The City of Clarksville is seeing a drastic increase in sewer system blockages during the coroanvirus pandemic.

Clarksville Ga and Water said the increase is due to higher volumes of wipes, paper towels, rags and other trash being flushed into toilets in a press release on Monday.

Although many paper products are labeled as "flushable" or "disposable," they are commonly made of fibers that don't break down or deteriorate as fast as toiletpaper in wastewater. Therefore, these items can collect in sewer lines and create blockage.
