Buick City rerouting sewer that’s been leaking PFAS into Flint River

FLINT, MI -- Work to replace and reroute more than 3,600 feet of underground storm sewer lines has started at the old Buick City site on Flint’s north side, an effort to stop PFAS contamination from continuing to spill into the Flint River.
The RACER Trust announced the start of the work Wednesday, March 5, and said a Warren company is expected to continue the job, working from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, for the next four months.
RACER is the trust established to manage properties like Buick City, which were abandoned by General Motors during its bankruptcy proceedings a decade ago. It is charged with cleaning up and selling off the real estate for future redevelopment.
