NACWA Recognizes Peak Performance Award Winners at 2024 Utility Leadership Conference

(BUFFALO, N.Y. – July 25, 2024) – The National Association of Clean Water Agencies Wednesday honored the recipients of the 2024 NACWA Peak Performance Awards at a ceremony during NACWA’s 2024 Utility Leadership Conference in Buffalo, N.Y.  

Peak Performance Awards
This year NACWA recognized 510 treatment facilities at 196 of its member Public Agencies for outstanding levels of compliance and performance related to their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.  A full list of NACWA’s 2024 Peak Performance Awards can be found here. The 2024 Peak Performance Awards reflect permit compliance for calendar year 2023. 

Additionally, the Association recognized the following:

President’s Award
This award is given to individuals active in NACWA activities who have made a major contribution toward achieving the goals and objectives of the Association.

  • Sharise Horne, Chief of Equity and Community Partnerships, Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District, Louisville, Ky. 
  • Andrew Lee, General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, Seattle Public Utilities

Outgoing Board Award

  • Brian Hoelscher, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District | Board Member 2018-2024
  • Thomas “Tom” Sigmund, Executive Director, NEW Water (Green Bay, Wisc.) | Board Member 2015-2024
  • Michael “Mike” Slevin, Environmental Services Director, City of Tacoma (Wash.), Environmental Services Department | Board Member 2017-2024
NACWA CEO Adam Krantz commended the recipients, noting:

“NACWA is proud to present this year's Peak Performance Awards to the extraordinary member utilities whose unyielding dedication to providing reliable clean water services has enhanced the environment and quality of life for millions across the country,” he said. “This esteemed recognition underscores their commitment to providing outstanding service, and the vital role clean water utilities play in serving their respective communities.”
