NACWA Staff Featured During Upcoming World Water Week Panel Discussion on Affordability
NACWA Deputy CEO Chris Hornback and Kristina Surfus, NACWA’s Managing Director of Government Affairs, will be among the featured panelists during a discussion to kick off World Water Week 2024 on Aug. 26 at 1:30 p.m. ET. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Community Services (OCS) is hosting the webinar, which will highlight the impact of the federal Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program that OCS administers.
During the panel, titled “OCS World Water Week 2024 Kickoff: Understanding Water Affordability,” Hornback and Surfus will discuss NACWA’s Cost of Clean Water Index survey. They will also discuss NACWA’s efforts to track national and regional trends in wastewater bills, increasing affordability concerns driven by infrastructure needs, regulatory requirements and other factors that continue to push rates higher, and the important role of customer assistance programs – especially the federal Low Income Household Water Assistance Program.
