COLWICH, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Colwich is asking residents not to flush wipes. The city said it had a sewer backup due to it being clogged with wipes.

“Please don’t flush anything other than toilet paper,” said the city.

A graphic on the city’s Facebook page shows a photo of a sewer pipe blocked by wipes along with a list of others that shouldn’t be flushed, including diapers, cigarette butts, paper towels, feminine products and more.

The graphic also shows how toilet paper almost dissolves in water over a year while wipes do not.
