NACWA Invites Members to Join New Environmental Justice Committee
NACWA President Kishia Powell has established a new standing Environmental Justice Committee that will be co-chaired by Andrew Lee, Interim General Manager/CEO at Seattle Public Utilities, and Sharise Horne, Director of Community Benefits & Partnerships at Louisville & Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District.
President Powell established the committee upon the recommendation of the NACWA Board of Director’s Environmental Justice Task Force, which spent months reviewing NACWA’s environmental justice activities and developing a Statement of Principles and Recommended Actions on Environmental Justice that will form the basis of the Committee’s advocacy work.
NACWA is seeking interested members for the Environmental Justice Committee. All NACWA members, both public and private, are invited to participate on the Committee.
The first meeting of the Committee will be in-person at the upcoming NACWA Winter Conference, being held in Scottsdale, AZ from January 31 – February 3. The Committee Co-Chairs are also planning a virtual event that will be held in late winter or early spring of this year.
Please e-mail NACWA Chief Legal Counsel Amanda Aspatore if you would like to participate on NACWA’s Environmental Justice Committee, or with any other questions you may have.
