Erie property owners, take notice: A citywide stormwater fee could be coming
A new stormwater management fee, assessed on property owners citywide to cover the cost of stormwater-related maintenance and improvements, could be coming to the city of Erie as a way to generate new revenue.
The possibility of enacting such a fee will be the main topic of conversation for Erie City Council members and representatives of Mayor Joe Schember’s administration during a Thursday evening study session at City Hall.
At that meeting, City Council will hear from representatives of the John Wood Group, a consulting firm with offices worldwide. The firm recommends that the city put a stormwater fee in place.
Thursday’s study session begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Bagnoni Council Chambers at City Hall, 626 State St. The meeting will also be streamed on the city's Facebook and YouTube pages.
