EPA Updates NPDES eReporting Requirements for MS4s; Extends Reporting Deadline
(April 17, 2020) – In a final rule published in the Federal Register on April 15, EPA is finalizing a suite of changes to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) eRule to be consistent with current municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4s) permit requirements.
EPA is correcting mostly minor data elements and typographical errors that have not been updated from the 2016 MS4 General Permit Remand Rule in order to reflect current electronic reporting (eRule) requirements and improve consistency. The final rule also extends the eReporting deadline for MS4s, which would have required submissions by December 21, 2020, to December 21, 2023. This announcement mirrors a similar action by EPA for other NPDES permittees.
The final rule is effective on May 15, 2020.
