Clean Water Current

(December 4, 2018) - The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has released a report entitled Cybersecurity Risk & Responsibility in the Water Sector, which outlines the cyber threats to drinking water and wastewater utilities and provides information on how to address these threats. 

Utilities face threats to both their industrial control systems and their business operations, as illustrated by the report with many confirmed examples.  A summary of methods and tools available for improving cyber resilience are provided in the report, with additional resources available on AWWA’s website.  The report is brief and easy to understand, and NACWA recommends that all members read it and consider their own cybersecurity efforts.
