Clean Water Current

(September 11, 2018, 2018) – EPA released a report, Smart Data Infrastructure for Wet Weather Control and Decision Support, focusing on how municipalities and utilities can use advanced monitoring data to support wet weather control and decision-making in real time or near real time.  The report provides an overview of smart data infrastructure and how it can be used in optimization of collection systems and development, implementation, and modification of long-term control plans. 

Among the topics covered in the report are smart data infrastructure, collection system optimization, real-time control systems, data management and sharing, and data analytics.  Many NACWA public member agencies are included as examples in the report, and it can provide a very helpful resource for utilities across the public clean water spectrum looking to use smart infrastructure technology.
