Advocacy Webinar Provides Executive Overview of Clean Water Issues

May 31, 2017

sixNACWA is proud to have had over 130 members participate in the May 24 webinar, Where Are We Now? Clean Water Advocacy in the New Political Landscape.  This free event provided an overview of the current priorities of the Administration and Congress and how NACWA is navigating this new political arena to advance the Association’s advocacy agenda.  NACWA staff shared details on efforts to align the Association’s goals with Executive and Legislative Branch priorities already gaining momentum, and to steer those priorities in a direction that will provide greater flexibility for the public clean water sector, advance the principle of net environmental benefit and ensure clean and safe water.

Topics covered included: EPA regulations, staffing, and budget; NACWA's regulatory improvement initiative; integrated planning, affordability, and infrastructure funding updates; an enforcement outlook; and opportunities to negotiate and renegotiate better wet weather consent decrees for communities and the environment.  Presentation slides are available here.

For those who participated in the webinar and have not yet completed the online survey, please do so today to help us enhance future webinars and maximize the value for our members.  Based on initial survey results, respondents are overwhelmingly interested in attending future webinars that cover NACWA's national advocacy work.  In addition, respondents want more information prior to the webinar such as slides, an agenda, and background information. We take your feedback seriously and will use this information to plan future events.

If members have suggestions for future advocacy webinar topics, please send them to Nathan Gardner-Andrews
