Susan Pekarek
General Manager
Johnson County Wastewater, KS
Susan Pekarek is the General Manager forJohnson County Wastewater. She has been with Johnson County for 19years and was promoted to General Manager in 2016 after serving as the Chief Engineer for three years. Susan provided capital improvement planning and management prior to becoming Chief, leading over $100M in capital projects supporting growth and asset renewal. She is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the Wastewater Department at Johnson County. Susan graduated from Kansas State University with Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering. She holds a Professional Engineering license in the state of Kansas and a Class IV Wastewater Operator’s license. She is active in professional organizations including the National Association of Clean Water Agencies and served as the President of the Kansas Water Environment Association in 2017-18. Susan is a graduate of the 2019 Leadership Overland Park Class.A native Kansan, Susan grew up in rural northeast Kansas and currently resides in Johnson County.
