Wastewater testing shows that Missouri is back to pre-omicron levels of community spread.
The Missouri Sewershed Surveillance Project tracks weekly samples of COVID-19 in wastewater. Those levels have dropped for weeks.
"We're kind of getting on the back end of that now. And so, people are outdoors more. And so, it's harder for those respiratory viruses to spread, and at least at the moment," said Marc Johnson, a University of Missouri researcher.
The rolling two-week average of hospitalizations statewide continues to drop. It's now below the spike that began at the end of December.
In Missouri, hospitalizations are down 37% in the last two weeks. In Kansas, they're down 41%.
