NACWA Welcomes New Staff to Advocacy Team
NACWA is excited to announce the recent hires of two new additions to our federal advocacy team. Tony Frye and Danielle Cloutier will focus on advancing NACWA’s federal legislative advocacy and engaging with our members on top priorities. Both come to NACWA with significant experience in clean water issues.
Tony Frye worked most recently at U.S. EPA, where he served as Assistant Deputy Associate Administrator for Senate Affairs. In this role he developed working relationships across Capitol Hill as a liaison between the Agency and Congress, gaining background on numerous issues impacting NACWA members. Prior to EPA, Tony worked in various roles for Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst from Iowa, his home state. Tony holds a BA in political science from the University of Northern Iowa.
Danielle Cloutier joins NACWA from the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), the national trade association for recreational fishing. As Policy Director she advanced federal and state policy and coalition building, focusing on the western U.S., on issues including resource management and conservation, access and funding. Before ASA, Danielle served in the office of Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii and worked for Oceana. Danielle earned a PhD in Freshwater Sciences and Technology and a BS in Microbiology, both from the University of Wisconsin system.
As we come out of a historic year for clean water investment, Danielle and Tony are looking forward to helping advance clean water utility advocacy. Their work will be essential in promoting NACWA’s priorities as Congressional attention is shifting towards issues of PFAS, resilience, cybersecurity, and more. They look forward to getting to know NACWA’s membership and can be reached at dcloutier@nacwa.org and tfrye@nacwa.org.
