When Sen. Wilton Simpson at last weeks’ Citrus County Chamber of Commerce luncheon stressed the importance of getting the county off pollution-causing septic systems and onto environmentally friendly central sewer, he echoed what others have been saying.
Members of the county’s Wastewater Treatment Feasibility Analysis (WWTFA) have been meeting for months to discuss options and will present a report at Tuesday's county commission workshop on how to accomplish septic-to-sewer conversions without residents spending a fortune.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), which paid for the report, has identified two watersheds of most concern: Crystal River/King's Bay and Chassahowitzka-Homosassa Springs.
