(November 20, 2020) –NACWA hosted its annual National Clean Water Law & Enforcement Seminar this week in a virtual format, where top environmental attorneys and utility leaders from across the country gave presentations and engaged in discussions on the major legal challenges facing the clean water community in 2020 and beyond. 

Panelists provided NACWA members with the latest information on critical legal and enforcement issues related to emerging contaminants, wastewater surveillance, recent Clean Water Act litigation, national enforcement developments, and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on utilities. Keynote speaker John Cruden, a Principal at Beveridge & Diamond, also discussed how the November election has the potential to significantly impact the future of clean water law implementation.

Nearly 200 people tuned in to engage in the conversation and earn up to 6 hours of CLE credits.  On behalf of our Legal Affairs Committee Co-Chairs Hilary Meltzer, Chief of the Environmental Law Division at the New York City Department of Law, and Emily Jackson, General Counsel at Metro Wastewater Reclamation District, we would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the presenters who volunteered their time and expertise, and all of the registrants who made the event a great success.
