KC Water celebrated the ribbon cutting for the completion of the Central Industrial District (CID)/West Bottoms Green Infrastructure project and also celebrated the ten year anniversary of KC Water's Smart Sewer Program.
"This is all a part of our Smart Sewer program that the city and KC Water committed to ten years ago when we sat out to reduce the amount of stormwater getting into the combined sewer therefore reducing combined sewer overflows. I would like to thank all those who helped make this possible, including HTNB, Kissick Construction and Burns and McDonnell," said Terry Leeds, KC Water Director.
Some of the changes to the area near 14th and Liberty Street include a new drainage system to control stormwater after heavy rains, a boardwalk with native plants and trees, and a permeable paved multi-event space.
