Ann Arbor officials proposing more water, sewer rate increases
ANN ARBOR, MI – Ann Arbor officials are proposing more water and sewer rate increases to take effect July 1.
Water and sewer fees could rise another 6.5%, while stormwater fees jump 11% for fiscal year 2020-21.
That would increase the average household’s quarterly bill to $233.68 — up about $16, according to the city.
That includes $70.38 in water fees, $129.90 in sewer fees and $59.37 in stormwater fees.
Craig Hupy, the city’s public services administrator, presented the proposed rates at a City Council budget work session Monday night, Feb. 24.
Hupy cited a need to raise funds to reinvest in aging infrastructure, including what he described as a potentially $70-90 million rebuild of the 1930s portions of the city’s water treatment plant in the next several years.
