NACWA Discusses Nutrients, Other Priority Issues with Top Office of Water Staff
(September 25, 2018) - NACWA staff met with top advisors for Office of Water Assistant Administrator Dave Ross on September 21 to discuss nutrient-related issues and to begin a dialogue on other NACWA advocacy priorities.
Anna Wildeman, Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water, was brought to EPA by Ross to focus on the nutrient challenge. NACWA provided Wildeman with background on some of the Association’s top concerns with the Agency’s approach on nutrients, but also discussed opportunities for encouraging greater partnerships between the clean water utility and agriculture communities at the watershed level.
Owen McDonough, Ross’s Senior Science Advisory, also participated in the meeting. He expressed interest in working with NACWA on a number of issues, including recovered resources.
NACWA will be following up with both Wildeman and McDonough on a range of NACWA’s advocacy priorities and is planning to meet with Assistant Administrator Ross in the coming weeks.
