NACWA Environmental Justice Task Force Discusses Upcoming Publication

Apr 25, 2017

sevenNACWA’s Environmental Justice Task Force discussed via conference call on April 19 the Association’s planned Environmental Justice & Community Service Compendium document. The publication, which is in the final stages of development, will highlight existing efforts by clean water utilities to address environmental justice and broader community concerns within their communities and how these approaches could be adopted by other utilities.

The Task Force discussed plans for rollout of the document, how best to share it with the larger clean water sector, and engage other key stakeholders.  The group also explored how the document could feed into NACWA’s broader efforts to establish a “peer-to-peer” sharing effort between utilities, providing an opportunity for those utilities that are interested to learn about existing environmental justice and community service efforts from other peer utilities.

Anyone with questions about NACWA’s environmental justice efforts or in joining the Task Force, please contact Nathan Gardner-Andrews, NACWA’s Chief Advocacy Officer.
