Small & Mid-Size Utilities Talk Funding

Feb 24, 2022

NACWA’s Small & Mid-Size Utility Working Group met virtually this week to discuss clean water funding availability and how to access it. NACWA staff provided an overview and timelines specific to funding that has been made available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the recent Infrastructure Bill, and the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program.

Members shared the challenges and successes they have encountered accessing these funding pools, while NACWA staff discussed additional resources regarding state-by-state distribution of funds and encouraged utilities to continue to pursue these funding opportunities.

Small and mid-size utilities, defined by NACWA as utilities with a service area under 75,000, make up 35% of NACWA’s public utility membership. The Small & Mid-Size Utility Working Group provides utility executives from this demographic an opportunity for peer-to-peer exchange on issues specific to their size and available resources.

Should your utility wish to join this Working Group, please contact Kelly Brocato, NACWA’s Senior Director of Membership Development & Retention
