Utility, State and Federal Pretreatment Professionals Gather for Virtual Event

May 26, 2021

Utility pretreatment professionals gathered with state and federal regulators last week for the National Pretreatment Virtual Event, jointly hosted by NACWA and the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA).

The Event, which drew over 500 participants, featured presentations focused on current and emerging issues for pretreatment programs, as well as multiple roundtable discussions.

The Event began with a panel of representatives from the different parts of the pretreatment program – EPA, the EPA Regions, state regulators, and utilities – who discussed their roles in the program and how to improve communication and collaboration between them.

Other panels discussed pretreatment for the marijuana industry; wastewater surveillance for pandemic and other purposes; management of fats, oils, and greases (FOG); CROMERR compliance; and pretreatment for PFAS. The Event concluded with a series of pretreatment case studies and an update on wipes legislation.

Presentations, speaker biographies, and more are available on the Event’s webpage. NACWA thanks the speakers, the Associations all-conference sponsors, and everyone else who helped make the Event a success. Members with questions can contact Cynthia Finley, NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs.
