Initial Federal Budget Numbers Expected This Week, NACWA Prepared to Defend Infrastructure Programs

Mar 13, 2017

sixThe Trump Administration is expected to release its initial “skinny budget” proposal for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 on March 16, providing top-line numbers for federal agencies and outlining which key federal programs may see an increase or decrease in funding levels.  More specific budget details will then be released in May.

Based on press reports, it is expected that the budget will result in a significant funding cut to EPA of potentially 25%.  While the exact distribution of these cuts is not yet known, NACWA is prepared to mount a strong defense of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and other critical programs that provide important infrastructure funding for clean water projects at the local level.   NACWA will keep members updated on developments.
