Susan Pekarek is the General Manager for Johnson County Wastewater. She has been with Johnson County for 19 years and was promoted to General Manager in 2016 after serving as the Chief Engineer for three years. Ms. Pekarek provided capital improvement planning and management prior to becoming Chief, leading over $100M in capital projects supporting growth and asset renewal. She is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the Wastewater Department in Johnson County.

Ms. Pekarek graduated from Kansas State University with BS and MS in Civil Engineering. She holds a Professional Engineering license in the state of KS and a Class IV Wastewater Operator’s license. She is active in professional organizations including the National Association of Clean Water Agencies and served as the President of the Kansas Water Environment Association in 2017-18. Ms. Pekarek is a graduate of the 2019 Leadership Overland Park Class.

A native Kansan, Ms. Pekarek grew up in rural northeast KS and currently resides in Johnson County.
