Sandeep Karkal serves as General Manager-Chief Engineer for the Novato Sanitary District (NSD), which provides wastewater collection, treatment and disposal, recycled water production, and franchised solid waste services in northern Marin County. Prior to joining NSD in 2004, he worked for over 17 years in the public and private sectors, including at two well-regarded consulting engineering firms. Mr. Karkal has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil/Environmental Engineering and has over 35 years in the water/wastewater industry. He is a registered Civil Engineer in CA and AZ and holds high grade water/wastewater operator certifications in both states. Mr. Karkal currently serves on the NACWA Board of Directors, the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) Federal Legislative Committee, and in a leadership role with the California Sanitation Risk Management Authority (CSRMA) as Vice-President of the CSRMA Executive Board.
