Association Talks Clean Water Advocacy, Wipes at Region 8 Pretreatment Conference

May 7, 2019

(May 7, 2019) - The Region 8 Pretreatment Association (R8PA) held its Annual Conference from April 30 – May 2, with over 150 attendees from public clean water utilities and state regulatory agencies.  The workshop provides an opportunity for pretreatment professionals to learn about regulatory updates, hear case studies from other utilities, and network with one another.

NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, Cynthia Finley, provided a national update on the Association’s legislative, regulatory, and legal advocacy efforts, which included recent efforts on federal funding, blending, water reuse, PFAS, and Clean Water Act liability for discharges into groundwater, and then focused on the Association’s work on wipes.

NACWA’s annual National Pretreatment & Pollution Prevention Workshop + Training will be held next week, May 14 – 17, in Tacoma, WA.  Registrations are still being accepted for the Workshop, either in advance or on-site.

NACWA always welcomes the opportunity to participate and collaborate in state or regional water-related gatherings to help advance clean water policy.  If members are interested in having NACWA staff attend a state or regional meeting in their area, please contact Kelly Brocato, NACWA’s Senior Director of Membership.
